MEET GERRY

My name is Gerry Hart, and I am the commissioner for the 8th Ward Commissioner of Haverford Township. My wife, Anne, and I have been residents of Havertown for nearly 30 years. We have lived in the same home on Penfield Avenue since moving here from Georgia in 1990 and  all six of our children have  attended  Haverford School District schools. In January 2017 I retired after being in practice as a family physcian for 30 years. In November 2017 I was honored to be elected as 8th Ward Commissioner.

I’ve been lucky to meet many Haverford residents through my community activities. I’m a member of the Friends of Haverford Trails and longtime soccer and baseball coach. I currently serve on the board of the Haverford Heat American Legion baseball program and previously served on the boards of the Brookline Baseball and Softball League and Haverford Township Babe Ruth league. In addition to this, I recently completed my studies which enabled to become a memeber of the Delaware County Master Gardener program which is part of the Penn State Cooperative Extension.

My goal with this website is to provide residents of the 8th Ward  a resource to keep up with local community and governmental affairs. I believe an effective local government is one in which citizens are both involved and informed. While I plan to regularly update this site with news of upcoming community events, I am also committed to trying to keep residents up to date with issues that have been discussed at township meetings as well as those that will be addressed in upcoming meetings.

Website design and management are not skills that I can profess to have mastered. There will certainly be a learning curve involved with the evolution of this site. I welcome your feedback in regards to website itself, but more importantly in regards to any township issues that arise.
